ITANAGAR, Dec 30: The Arunachal Pradesh unit of the National People’s Party (NPP) has welcomed the handing over of the multi-crore PDS scam case to the CBI for investigation.
Lauding Chief Minister Pema Khandu for taking the ‘bold step’ of handing over the case to the premier investigation agency of the country, the state NPP expressed hope that the CBI would thoroughly investigate the scam and book the culprits.
Stating that corruption has ‘almost crippled’ development in Arunachal Pradesh, the NPP unit urged the state government to strengthen the vigilance cell and confiscate disproportionate assets and illegal money from corrupt officers.
It advised the state government to adopt a policy to collect the bank accounts of the family members of government officers and investigate through a vigilance agency to prevent corruption in the state.
The party also appealed to the people of the state to cooperate with the government in its ‘war against corruption, so that real development percolates down to the grassroots.’
