Guv calls for holistic plan for garbage disposal

ITANAGAR, Jan 9: Governor Dr BD Mishra has called for finding a permanent and scientific solution to all the problems of solid wastes.
He said that temporary solution, like use of solid waste for land filling, etc, must be reviewed.
Participating on the second day of the cleanliness drive launched by the Raj Bhavan, the governor emphasized on putting in place a holistic plan for disposal of garbage, “keeping in mind the solid waste dumping for the next ten years.”
The entry point of the municipal solid waste management plant at Chimpu, where garbage was lying in mounds due to improper disposal, was cleaned on the second day of the cleanliness drive.
The entry point of the plant has been an eyesore for the visitors coming to the state capital via Hollongi, said the governor.
Members of the Itanagar Municipal Council led by Chief Councillor Kipa Kaku, employees of the Raj Bhavan, and representatives of NGOs and self-help groups, along with student volunteers from the Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya and police personnel participated in the drive.
