RUKSIN, Jan 10: The 2nd Block Level Games & Sports Meet- 2018 of government upper primary schools got underway at the general ground here on Wednesday.
Pasighat-West MLA and Parliamentary Secretary Tatung Jamoh, who attended the inauguration function, asked the student community to refrain from indulging in party politics, stating that it may adversely affect their academic career.
DDSE Jongge Yirang spoke about the future scope in sports, including job opportunities for talented sportspersons in various state government departments.
The DDSE informed that the district Education Department will conduct the U-17 zonal level sports meet at Pasighat, which is scheduled to begin on 16 January.
Schools from six upper Arunachal districts are participating in the sports meet and winners will qualify for the state level meet.
Earlier, Ruksin ZPM Tonggeng Panyang urged the local MLA for providing fund for development of sports sector in the block. He informed that the Rs 5 lakh provided under the MLA LAD fund was spent in procurement of sports materials for the schools under the block.
