DAPORIJO, Jan 15: Local MLA Dikto Yekar has urged clan-based organisations in Upper Subansiri district to work for the common interests of the society as a whole besides promoting their own clans.
“Clan-based organisations are mushrooming, leading to numerous programmes like foundation day, conference, election, etc, in the name of their clans – especially in the district,” Yekar said while addressing a programme organised by the Pombu Kow Welfare Society here on Sunday.
While encouraging them to promote their clans, he appealed to the people to promote peace and harmony in the society, saying it should be the ultimate goal of every clan-based organisation.
The MLA also urged youths to refrain from using drugs and alcohol, and to refrain from merging social activities with political issues.
