SEPPA, Jan 16: A CB-NAAT facility under the RNTCP was formally inaugurated by East Kameng DC Rajeev Takuk in the district hospital here on Tuesday.
Takuk exhorted the health department to utilize the centre in proper and judicious way. Expressing satisfaction with the progress made by the district hospital in terms of upgrading and introduction of various facilities, the DC asked the officials to thrust more energy in order to prevent this facility from becoming defunct.
DTO (RNTCP) Dr Nima Bodi briefed the gathering about the technology and its advantages, and the status of prevalence of TB and its treatment in the district.
It is one of the three centres that have been introduced in the state. The other two centres are at Changlang and Ziro. With the opening of this centre, people of the district will have to be parted with meager amount to do diagnosis at district hospital, Seppa.
Cartridge Based-Nucleic Air Amplifier Technology (CB-NAAT) is an equipment which diagnoses suspected TB in a very short period and with cent percent accuracy. It is reliable and diagnosis can be done at very low cost. This technology was proven and approved by the WHO in 2010.
ZPC Mering Natung, DMO Dr Kaya Lapung, DRCHO Dr Dirang Pizi, MS Dr Kopi Gyadi, MOs and other health staff were also present in the inaugural function.
