CHANGLANG, Jan 17: The Changlang unit police from Namtok arrested a cadre identified as SS Private Kejen Ngongpa for allegedly extorting money from the locals in Namtok.
According to a release, the police received input on 16 January regarding presence of suspected NSCN (IM) cadre in the general area of Namtok, following which, the 14th AR from Margherita, along with Namtok police personnel launched an operation in the suspected area of Phangsum village at around 4.20 PM.
By 17 January, they established a cordon around a suspected house and apprehended Ngongpa at around 5 PM.
On searching the house, security forces recovered one each of a .22 pistol, magazine, mobile phone and an Aadhar card, besides four live rounds of a .22 pistol.
A regular criminal case has been registered against the arrested accused and further investigation is on.
