WAKKA, Jan 24: The Nisa Village Football Team (NVFT) lifted the Wancho Youth Football Championship trophy by defeating Khanu Village Football Team (KVFT) 2-1 in the final match of the tournament organized here in Longding district on Wednesday.
The tournament which started on 16 January was organized by the Assam Rifles (Khonsa Battalion) under its Civic Action Programme (AR CAP) for the youth of Wakka circle.
A total of 10 teams participated in the tournament.
Both the winner and runner-up teams were awarded with gold and silver medals and cash prizes.
All the players were also presented complete football kits in presence of AR Khonsa Battalion Commandant.
The people of Wakka area have applauded this noble effort of the AR to expose hidden talent and promote sportsman spirit among the youth.
The Raja and gaon bura of Wakka also lauded the noble gesture of the Assam Rifles and expressed their heartfelt gratitude for conducting the Wancho Youth Football Championship.
