KOHIMA, Jan 24: A self-styled Brigadier of the NSCN Kitovi-Neopak (KN) and two other militants of the outfit were apprehended in Nagaland by security forces.
Aheto H Chophy, the Self Styled Brigadier, Self Styled Sergeant Witti Marak and Mughahoto Sumi were apprehended by the troops of Assam Rifles at a mobile vehicle check post in Zubza near Kohima on 23 January.
Acting on specific information provided by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) about movement of a senior NSCN militant from Dimapur to Zunheboto, a joint team of Assam Rifles and NIA established multiple mobile vehicle check posts in Kohima district.
A type-56 rifle, two pistols, 176 rounds of ammunition, Indian currency amounting to Rs 1,32,320; mobile instruments and incriminating documents were seized from the apprehended militants.
Aheto is one of the accused in a NIA case (No RC 03/2013/NIA/GUW) pertaining to criminal conspiracy and misappropriation of government arms and ammunition belonging to Zunehboto District Executive Force Kote.
A non-bailable warrant was issued against him by a Special Judge of NIA in 2014.
