Measles Rubella Vaccination Campaign begins across state

ITANAGAR, Feb 1: The Measles Rubella Vaccination Campaign (MRVC) was launched throughout Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday.
As many as 5 lakh children in the age group of nine months to below 15 years are targeted for vaccination in the state during the campaign.
The MRVC began at several schools of the Capital Complex with the aim to completely eliminate measles and control rubella by 2020.
Deputy Commissioner in-charge Talom Dupak informed that a comprehensive schedule for vaccination has been prepared, covering all the schools and anganwadi centres so that every child gets immunized. The schedule is available at www.itanagar.nic.in.
DMO Dr Subu Tasso Kampu informed that children below the age group of school going children may avail the vaccination at the health centres on all working days throughout the month.
In East Siang HQ Pasighat, Disaster Management Parliamentary Secretary Kaling Moyong launched the month-long campaign at the government IGJ higher secondary school.
Moyong called upon the targeted children to get immunized and asked them to spread the message of eradicating measles and rubella.
DC Tamiyo Tatak said all the targeted 28,147 children, “including the last child in the most interior part of the district,” must get immunized.
In the morning, the DC also launched the MRVC at Bakin Pertin Memorial General Hospital & Training Centre.
In Upper Siang HQ Yingkiong, Deputy Commissioner Dully Kamduk launched the MRVC. He requested students to spread awareness on the campaign among the villagers, and urged the health care staff to ensure 100% vaccination of the targeted group. ZPM Badeng Teng highlighted the importance of vaccination.
In Upper Subansiri HQ Daporijo, MLA Dikto Yekar inaugurated the MRVC, and Deputy Commissioner Danish Ashraf urged the doctors and health workers to carry out the vaccination campaign with dedication.
In Hayuliang in Anjaw district, ADC T Ete launched the campaign. He requested the officials of the Health, Education and WCD departments to ensure that all deserving children are vaccinated.
DMO Dr K Perme informed that the targeted beneficiaries in the district are only 4495.
In Lower Subansiri HQ Ziro, after launching the programme, Food & Civil Supplies Parliamentary Secretary Tage Taki reiterated the government’s commitment for a disease-free society. He asked the district administration to direct the gram chairpersons to monitor the campaign and ensure that all the children between 9 months and 15 years are vaccinated.
DFWO Dr Derin Likar informed that 14,104 children will be vaccinated during the campaign.
In Nampong in Changlang district, MLA Laisam Simai launched the MRVC. Interacting with the children, Simai spoke on the significance of vaccination.
“No child should be left out during the vaccination drive,” he said.
In West Kameng HQ Bomdila, DC Dr Sonal Swaroop launched the campaign, while in Dibang Valley HQ Anini, ADC Gautam Hazarika launched the campaign and Dr James Lego from the district hospital explained the need of the campaign.
In West Siang HQ Aalo, DC Swetika Sachan launched the campaign and stressed on full coverage of the targeted children. DMO Dr Nyage Geyi and DFWO Dr Tomar Kamki also spoke.
Launching the campaign in Doimukh, Papum Pare DC Tai Kaye spoke on the importance of the MRVC, and advised school children to maintain cleanliness and discipline for disease free health.
DMO Dr Subu Tasso Kampu informed that 63,924 children will be vaccinated in the entire district.
In East Kameng HQ Seppa, the campaign was launched by EAC Pama Bagang, while in Namsai, DC RK Sharma launched the campaign in the presence of officials of the Health department. (With DIPRO inputs)
