ITANAGAR, Feb 12: All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) president Hawa Bagang and general secretary Tobom Dai called on Education Secretary Dr Madhu Rani Teotia at her office here on Monday and submitted a memorandum requesting expediting the process of teachers’ recruitment.
‘The state government had in October 2017 given the nod for recruitment of subject teachers and other non-teaching staffs in various categories through the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission; but to the utter dismay of everyone, even after a lapse of many months, the decision has not made any headway, casting aspersion on the much hyped decision,’ the union stated in the memorandum.
The union requested carrying out teachers’ recruitment before the start of the new academic session, ‘so that the shortage of subject teachers can be done away with.’
Bagang and Dai also brought to Teotia’s attention various other issues confronting the education department that need immediate remedial steps, such as appointment of regular DDSEs, principals, vice principals, headmasters, etc, based on seniority; timely disbursement of textbooks; recalling of teachers from non-teaching assignments; meeting the shortage of teachers’ quarters; providing usable classrooms; and disbursement of regular salaries to teachers working under flagship programmes like the SSA, RMSA, etc.
The education secretary on her part assured to work in tandem with all stakeholders to revamp the state’s education sector.
