BOLENG, Feb 25: Photography enthusiasts got a taste of practical photography and documentary filmmaking on 25 February at an Adi culture theme photo walk led by Mumbai-based photographer and travel writer Sanjiv Valsan and Delhi-based filmmaker Sanjiv Monga in Adi tribal hamlets near Boleng, flagging off the start of the Unying Giidi festival.
The two Sanjivs, who are currently shooting documentary films on tribal subjects together in the state, have been associated with Arunachal Pradesh for many years, and are also currently making a short film on the Unying (Aaran) festival of the Adi tribe.
Monga and Valsan, along with Delhi-based film director Sujit Jha, shared with participants of the photo walk, the technicalities of camera use and how documentary films are made in real life by shooting a section of their Unying film along with the participants of the photo walk.
Valsan said, “We hope to be able to share our experiences with more tribal photography and film enthusiasts in the state, and create many competent film makers, photographers and researchers from all the local tribes, one by one.”
