RUKSIN, Mar 8: The Adi community of East Siang district celebrated the Unying Aran Giidi (hunting festival) with traditional fervor on Thursday.
Addressing the festive celebration at Linka village in East Siang district, the Ruksin Forest Range officer asked the community people to carry forward their ancestral culture for the younger generations. He urged the leaders and officers to be dedicated for socio-economic and educational uplift of the local people.
Attending the programme, Ruksin block ZPM Tonggeng Panyang and Anchal Chairperson Aruni Jamoh appealed to the community people to work for overall development of their area.
The duo panchayat leaders opined that festival celebrations bring unity and peace in their societies and inspire the community members to engage themselves in cultivation activities.
At Pasighat, ZPC Kaling Dai said that Unying Aran is celebrated to welcome the spring season, which they believe as onset of the New Year.
The festivities also inspire the people to maintain cordial relation and better understanding among community members.
Reports of Unying celebrations have poured in from different nooks and corners of the Siang belt in Upper Arunachal.
