132 KV Ziro-Daporijo transmission line temporarily restored

ITANAGAR, Mar 9: The Executive Engineer (E) SLDC & Transmission Division-II, Department of Power, Itanagar, N.Perme has informed that the 132 KV Ziro-Daporijo transmission line which suffered major damages on Tuesday last, due to heavy storm causing power disruption at Lower Subansiri to Anjaw districts has been temporarily restored on Thursday last.
In a release on Friday, the EE stated that damages were caused to tower no. 55, 56 and 57 located at around 17 kms from Ziro while, tower no.56 was severely damaged, which would require total replacement of tower arm and tower parts.
He however, informed that necessary processes of design and procurement of proper and specified spares of faulty/damaged components have already been initiated for permanent restoration and the line will be restored to its normal state once the spares arrive at the site.
“Teams of the department of power from Ziro and Daporijo were immediately pressed into service for restoration. Despite bad weather and obvious limitations, the aforementioned power line was restored on a temporary basis using available resources on Thursday last, considering the urgency of the matter in view of the ongoing CBSE board examinations”, the EE added.
