Minister seeks close coordination with farmers

ITANAGAR, Mar 9: Minister for Agriculture, Trade & Commerce, DoTCL and Fisheries,Wangki Lowang has urged the entire extension functionaries of the Agriculture department to maintain close coordination with the farmers as well as the peoples’ representative to ensure higher productivity and enhance farmers’ income, which is envisaged to be doubled by 2022 – 2023.
He said this during a review meeting on the progress of implementation of various state funded and central sector schemes under agriculture sector during the current financial year with the Secretary (Agriculture) and officers of the department in his office chamber on Thursday last.
The Minister also impressed upon the officers to streamline the administrative mechanism for effective implementation and monitoring of the schemes so that tangible results are visible in the farmers’ fields. He also stated that from April’2018 onwards he is intending to undertake field visit to ascertain the impact of the schemes implementation.
