ITANAGAR, Mar 11: In another major breakthrough, the Capital unit police arrested four mobile snatchers and recovered 10 mobile handsets worth Rs 10 lakh approximately from their possession.
The police, after registering a complaint regarding mobile snatching, launched investigation and succeeded to apprehend four members of the gang on Saturday, informed SDPO Itanagar K Sikom.
“We have received one FIR regarding mobile snatching and many verbal complaints of such cases, particularly in the premises of IG Park, Niti Vihar, ‘C’ and ‘D’ Sector areas,” said SDPO Sikom.
“The four arrested have admitted their involvement in the mobile lifting case,” the SDPO said, adding that the police have launched further investigation.
Of the total 10 handsets, three were robbed and related to the registered case. The remaining seven handsets recovered from their possession are yet to be verified.
It is suspected that these mobile handsets were either snatched or stolen by them or their friends, said Sikom.
On March 4, the Naharlagun unit police nabbed five habitual mobile lifters and recovered three phones from them.
Further, the city police recently recovered six stolen motorcycles and five scooters (Scooty) from various places and arrested one alleged accused in connection with the bike lifting case.
