ITANAGAR, Mar 11: The All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) has condemned the act of striping of the cloths of a rape accused and parading him naked in the market by a mob at Daporijo town on 1 March.
Condemning the rape incident vehemently, the ANYA said it never supports such heinous crime, but parading a person naked in market places by taking law into their own hands is also highly condemnable, said ANYA vice president Yumdam Baja.
Stating that it is a case of human rights violation, the ANYA leader strongly urged the law enforcing authority to re-arrest those involved in the incident and conduct free and fair investigation on the said case without any favouritism and nepotism; otherwise, it would set a dangerous precedent.
The ANYA vice president, accompanied by a team of Upper Subansiri district unit of the association, visited Daporijo on 5 March to ascertain the ground realities of the incident.
