APPDSU slams govt for poor quality road

ITANAGAR, Mar 12: The All Papum Pare District Students’ Union (APPDSU) slammed the state government for the alleged poor quality of the re carpeting and maintenance of the Itanagar-Jote-Poma-Sangdupota road.
The APPDSU stated that the ongoing re-carpeting and maintenance of the 24km road being undertaken by the PWD Doimukh division is a total waste of public money, adding that the road without drainage system will be washed away when the rains come.
“Let monsoon come, the road without drainage system, provision of new culverts and bridges will not last even for a few days,” said the APPDSU in a release.
Besides, constant movement of heavy vehicles due to various construction works in the area has further increased the chances of the road being damaged, the APPDSU said.
It also condemned the government for short release of fund from the total amount sanctioned for the said road.
According to the students union, only Rs 12 crore was released out of the total Rs 16 crore sanctioned.
