Youth from Arunachal beaten in Pune

LONGDING, Mar 13: An incident of kidnapping and attempted murder of two youths from Arunachal Pradesh has been reported from Pune, Maharashtra.
As per reports, Wangli Mikham and Mankhu Wangsu of Kanubari under Longding district, who were presently staying in Pune for a six-month training course sponsored by the Nagaland Tools & Training Centre (NTCC), were severely beaten, allegedly by one Pradip and his accomplices without any provocation on 10 March around 10 pm.
The family members of the victim duo were informed of the incident by their friends in Pune on the same night, Wancho Students Union (WSU) president Pongngoi Joham told this daily over telephone on Tuesday.
Both Wangli and Mankhu were first forcefully taken to a jungle, where they were beaten severely inflicting grievous body injuries.
The WSU did not rule out the involvement of an official from NTCC in the incident as the gang leader reportedly had contacted an official of the NTCC through phone about their doings in the jungle after Wangli and Mankhu were being abducted.
The victim duo was made to hear their conversation by switching on the loud speaker of the phone, WSU said.
Meanwhile, the WSU demanded that the Maharashtra Government take action against all those involved in the crime, including the NTCC official by registering a case.
When contacted, a volunteer of the Helping Hands of Mumbai (An NGO for North East people in distress in cities) has confirmed the incident.
“No FIR has been filed so far,” he said, informing that the victim duo has already left Pune for Arunachal.
