DAPORIJO, Mar 16: The 12-hr Chakka Bandh at Kamle district called by Kamle district unit of Students’ United Movement of All Arunachal (SUMAA) affected normal life in adjoining district Upper Subansiri on Friday.
However, no bandh related untoward incident has been reported from the affected area till filing of this report.
The ‘Chakka Bandh’ was called to protest against the recent incidents of parading two alleged rape accused naked in public places in Daporijo.
Bandh callers established two camps at Pamluk, near boundary of Kamle district and Lower Subansiri and other at Don village near the boundary area of Upper Subansiri district to prevent movement of vehicles through Kamle district.
Meantime, the Peace Committee constituted at a meeting here on Thursday, met the ‘Chakka bandh’ enforcers at Raga Inspection Bungalow on Friday.
The bandh callers, after a marathon discussion, agreed to temporarily suspend their indefinite Chakka bandh with a condition that their demands will be fulfilled with 14 days. Otherwise, the indefinite democratic movement will be continued, informed the president of SUMAA, Kamle district unit.
Meantime, bandh callers have demanded legal action under IT Act against the administrator of a certain social media group for allegedly making controversial and provocative comments/remarks, thereby spreading hatred among the peace loving community in both the districts.
