ITANAGAR, Mar 17: The People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA) on Saturday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led state government of indulging in corrupt activities across the state by allocating fund over Rs 200 crore within one month.
Addressing a press conference here, leader of opposition party, Takam Pario claimed that state government has allocated untied fund of Rs 227, 41, 53 across the state this March for various projects as he questioned the manner in which fund was allocated, approved and work orders issued.
“How on earth can those projects be executed or implemented within one month?” questioned Pario, saying that the allocation of such a huge amount of fund within one month is not only unprecedented, but also a serious case of corruption by the people at the helm of affairs.
“People of the state are expecting a transparent and corruption free state,” he asserted, adding that the public need to know where and how the funds are utilized.
“We have only 10 days left for the financial year to end. The government must tell us how it will maintain transparency if they cannot execute or implement those multi-crore projects by the end of this month,” he added.
Citing an example of the 3km road project in Namsai to the tune of Rs 1 crore which was included in the fund allocation, the PPA leader said, “Nowhere in the world can one construct 3km road within 10 days”.
Expressing deep resentment over the reported unequal distributions of fund in the constituencies, Pario said, there shouldn’t be biasness in the distribution of fund as every constituency deserves the same amount of developmental activities.
Informing that Namsai, which is the home district of Deputy Chief Minister cum Minister Finance and Planning, Chowna Mein, got an allocation of Rs 29.16 crore, Pario said, those in power should always maintain neutrality especially while allocating the development fund.
Meanwhile, Pario asked the people of the state to “check and balance such corrupt activities”.
He also urged upon the concerned deputy commissioners of the districts to maintain transparency.
Pario was accompanied by MLA Tanga Byaling at the press conference.
