Security forces apprehend NSCN (K) cadres

KOHIMA, Mar 20: The Khonsa Battalion, Changlang Battalion and Lekhapani Battalion under the aegis of Dao division conducted successful operations in Tirap and Changlang districts, early Tuesday morning.
Two hardcore NSCN (K) cadres and one over ground worker of NSCN (K) were apprehended during the operations.
Based on specific sources about presence of cadres trying to terrorize and carryout extortion in Chop village of Tirap district, the Khonsa Battalion swiftly launched an operation and apprehended of Self Styled Private Khajam Pansa, 32, of NSCN (K) with a pistol and live ammunition. During spot interrogation he admitted allegiance to NSCN (K).
In a similar operation launched by the Changlang Battalion in Tirap Colliery of Changlang district, one illegal Myanmarese national Sang Ung Hakum, 26, and resident of Thangthang village of Myanmar was apprehended. On spot interrogation, the cadre admitted that he had infiltrated in January 2018 to India.
Based on inputs about presence of an over ground worker and having collected large sums of money from the locals, the Lekhapani Battalion also carried out an operation in Lalpahar area of Chanlang.
During operation, one Nisto Sema, a resident of Lalpahar village was apprehended and more than Rs 5 lakhs recovered. He was also apprehended earlier in 2005 for aiding the banned outfit NSCN (K). (PRO Defence)
