PASIGHAT, Mar 23: The Institutional Biotech Hub in association with the botany department of the Jawaharlal Nehru College (JNC) on Friday launched a three-day hands-on training-cum-workshop on ‘Extraction and separation of useful compounds from medicinal plants’.
Sixty students of the JNC along with faculty members are participating in the programme, which is being held at the college here.
The workshop will feature six technical sessions, besides training on useful compound extraction from medicinal plants, and techniques of phytocompound separation from medicinal plants, among other things.
Addressing the inaugural session, JNC Vice Principal Dr HD Choadhury advised the trainees to use what they learn from the training in future research activities, while Dr KK Bhattacharjee spoke on the uses and importance of chromatographic technology, and Dr Kento Kadu dwelt on the importance of the techniques used in phytocompounds.
The training is funded by Department of Biotechnology, New Delhi.
