RAGA, Mar 24: Local MLA Tamar Murtem launched the All Kamle District Gaon Bura and Gaon Buris Welfare Association here on Friday.
Describing GBs as “the main lawmakers of the village level,” Murtem said the current leadership, both at the Centre and in the state, is doing its best for the GBs. He also enumerated some of the recent schemes introduced by the state government for the GBs, including granting of remuneration on a monthly basis.
“Various development schemes are under process for upgrading Kamle district and making it a model district in every aspect,” he said, and urged the people of the district to extend cooperation in promoting communal harmony, and to ensure that the GBs play a vital role in the district’s development.
Besides the district’s GBs, government officials, panchayat leaders and others were present at the function.
