TAWANG, Mar 24: Fifteen teams from various parts of Tawang district – including one from the Indian Army – are participating in the Tawang T20 Champions League cricket tournament which was kicked off by Chief Minister Pema Khandu at the high altitude stadium here on Saturday.
The tournament is being organized by the Tawang Sports Association.
Extending his best wishes to the teams, the chief minister expressed appreciation for the participation of the Army, saying such engagement would increase the bonhomie between the Army and the civilians.
Since it is difficult for grass to grow in high-altitude Tawang, the CM assured to support providing artificial green turf for the cricket ground. He also suggested to the organizers to avail of the benefits of various schemes aimed at supporting sports.
The tournament is being sponsored by the chief minister, RWD Parliamentary Secretary Jambey Tashi, and Tawang MLA Tsering Tashi.
