PALIN, Mar 25: The Galo community residing here in Kra Daadi district celebrated pre-Mopin Giidii for the first time on 24 March with traditional gaiety and fervour.
The pre-Mopin Giidii was organised by the officers and officials of the Galo and Adi communities posted here. Many people from other communities also took part in the festivities with great enthusiasm.
Clad in their traditional attires, Galo men and women came out to celebrate their annual harvest festival. They smeared rice powder on each other’s faces and on the guests.
Celebration committee president K Pertin welcomed the guests, and organizing chairman T Basar presented a brief history of Mopin and urged the community to preserve their culture and tradition.
Popir dance and cultural presentations were the highlights of the celebration. (DIPRO)
