Climbers bring laurels to Arunachal

NAHARLAGUN, Mar 26: Seven climbers have brought laurels to the state by winning medals in the North East Open Sport Climbing Competition held at Guwahati, Assam, from 24 to 26 March.
The competition was organized by the Assam Mountaineering Association (AMA) in collaboration with the Assam Sport Climbing Association (ASCA) and the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE).
The team from Arunachal made a clean sweep in the speed climbing sub-junior category. Demu Pulu secured a gold medal, while Taba Jamsai and Lenzing Apum bagged silver and bronze medals respectively.
In lead climbing sub-junior category, Lenzing Apum and Taba Jamsai won silver and bronze medals respectively.
In speed climbing junior category, Gyamar Nyori bagged a bronze medal.
In lead climbing junior category, Kiran Dajusow won a silver medal.
Felicitating the team in a city-based hotel, Arunachal Sport Climbing Association president Sikka Gapak called upon the participants to give their best and focus on taking part in bigger platforms.
“You should now think about representing your country,” he said.
Citing the example of Manipur being a hub of sports activities, he said “we should inculcate their hard work.”
