AALO, Mar 29: In an effort to stop encroachment of forest land, the Aalo Forest division led by DFO Abhinav Kumar carried out a massive plantation drive atop Bahadur Hill here on Thursday amid security.
The plantation drive was done on prime forest land running into several hectares which have been converted into jhum land.
The Forest division’s effort is a step towards protecting the once pristine forest land from rampant encroachment. The hill offers a panoramic view of Aalo town.
“The drive is an outcome of the decision to not allow any land development in the forest land within Bahadur Hill,” the DFO said.
The decision had been made during a meeting at the deputy commissioner’s conference hall recently.
The DFO said the land falling within reserve forest “will be worked out in detail with the help of the Land department. All illegal occupiers will be removed, and land/NOC allotted within the reserve forest will be placed for review.”
In the absence of open spaces here in West Siang district, Bahadur Hill has the potential to offer walking tracks for the health conscious, sightseeing spots, parks, gardens, and such. (DIPRO)
