DC directs restoration of road within a week

KHONSA, Mar 31: Taking serious note of the damages being done to NH-315A (Khonsa-Bogapani-Joypur road) by the contractors who are laying OFC cable alongside the road, Tirap Deputy Commissioner PN Thungon on Friday directed them to repair the damages within a week.
The DC said legal action would be initiated against the agency/contractor concerned if they fail to follow the directive.
The DC’s order came following complaints lodged by the villagers of Borduria.
EAC (Judicial) H Kri, accompanied by a police team led by SI O Ronrang, took stock of the work and found that the cable laying work has not been carried out as per the guidelines, and that the executing agency has completely damaged the road by digging up the blacktopped areas.
A case has been registered under the Prevention of Damage of Public Properties Act, and the labourers engaged by the executing agency have been detained at the police station here under the BEFR Act for working without ILPs. Two excavators have also been seized.
The DC also urged all the private companies undertaking cable connection work in the district to improve their services, and said many a time these companies damage NH-315A while carrying out cable connection activities. (DIPRO)
