WAKRO, Apr 4: A Lohit police team which had traced the four missing girls from Lohit district in South India was jointly felicitated by the Wakro Women’s Welfare Association, Wakro block unit of CALSOM, GBs, PRI members and Wakro based NGOs in Apurba Diwas celebration here on Wednesday.
The members lauded the coordinated efforts and prompt action of the Lohit SP Kirli Padu for ensuring safety of the missing girls and for their quick return. They also lauded the dedicated service of Inspector Thomas Pertin and others in rescuing the missing girls.
According to an FIR lodged at the Tezu police station by the mother of one of the missing girls, they went missing from Wakro on the evening of March 21 last and the families feared that they could be the victims of human trafficking.
According to a release, all the four missing girls were sighted by Railway Police personnel of Jolarpet RPS who promptly took custody of the girls and informed Tezu police station. After receiving information, a Police team from Lohit reached Vellore and returned with the girls.
In his address, SP Padu said, ” Arunachal Pradesh police will not be found wanting in discharging its duty towards the public and society. He called upon the citizens to extend cooperation to ensure safety of citizens and maintenance of law and order.
In his message ADGP Dr Amar Kumar Pandey appreciated the Lohit police team, district administration and NGOs for safe rescue of the missing girls.
