NSCN (R), ULFA (I) ultras nabbed

CHANGLANG, Apr 9: Security forces apprehended four militants belonging to the NSCN (R) and the ULFA (I) from two different locations in Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.
Based on information about the presence of armed militants in Ngeichang area in Changlang district, personnel of the Assam Rifles (AR) launched a major operation on 9 April, and apprehended two hardcore NSCN (R) militants. They have been identified as self-styled sergeant major Nongman Jugli and self-styled lance corporal Sampan Harap, according a release issued by Kohima-based Defence PRO Col C Konwer.
Weapons, ammunition and incriminating documents were recovered from the operatives. They were allegedly involved in extortion activities.
In a similar operation in Lekhapani area in Tinsukia district of Assam, AR personnel apprehended Anil Kanikar @ Dahotia and Pramod Barua, both active members of the ULFA (I), the defence PRO informed.
