SAC suggests adding farmers’ welfare measures in KVK progs

KARSINGSA, Apr 12: The Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) of the Papum Pare Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) has suggested that several measures to ensure farmers’ welfare be included in the programmes undertaken by the KVK.
During a meeting held here on Wednesday, the SAC suggested educating the farmers on the latest scientific technologies for enhancing their income, replacing old crop varieties with high-yielding varieties, promoting organic farming, rearing high yielding livestock breeds, and such, and suggested that the KVK establish an oil, palm and rubber demonstration centre.
The meeting, which was chaired by Animal Husbandry, Veterinary & Diary Development Director, Dr ND Minto, saw the participation of officials of line departments and the NABARD, besides members of the NERIST and the NEIST, and panchayat members of Banderdewa.
Subject matter specialists made PowerPoint presentations on the achievements and action plans of the agriculture, horticulture, plant protection, animal science, fishery and home science sectors.
