Union seeks retention of IRBn Coy in Changlang

CHANGLANG, Apr 13: Strongly opposing the move to shift the 2nd IRBn’s A Company from Changlang to Lower Dibang Valley district, the All Changlang District Students’ Union on Saturday appealed to the state government to reconsider the decision in the greater interest of the people of Changlang.
The union stated in a press release that the order for the shift was issued to the Changlang SP on 28 March, the aim being to replace the 5th IRBn’s 1 Company in Lower Dibang Valley with the A Company of the 2nd IRBn.
Claiming that Changlang district headquarters has a total strength of only 50-60 civil police personnel, the union sought deployment of more police personnel and reserved battalions in the district to ensure public safety, “considering the fact that the district is a disturbed area due to the problem of insurgency.”
It further claimed that the state government is shifting the A Company to Lower Dibang Valley without assigning any reliever for Changlang.
