MLA seeks bringing Tirap, Longding under tourist circuit

HUKANJURI, Apr 15: Borduria-Bogapani MLA Wanglin Lowangdong on Saturday appealed to the state government to bring Tirap and Longding districts under a tourist circuit for the growth of the rural economy and the benefit of the people of the two districts.
After inaugurating a 15-room eco-tourist lodge here, Lowangdong said, “Though the central government is giving more importance to the tourism sector, Tirap and Longding districts are being deprived of tourism facilities due to non-inclusion of these districts under a tourist circuit.”
The MLA expressed hope that the eco-tourist lodge would help reduce unemployment among the educated youths and encourage them to involve themselves in the tourism sector.
Tirap Deputy Commissioner PN Thungon said the eco-tourist guest house “is one of the biggest assets for the people of Tirap district.” He appealed to the district’s legislators to initiate steps for inclusion of Tirap under a tourist circuit.
Khonsa West MLA Tirong Aboh said creating a Tirap-Longding tourist circuit would help the local traders, businessmen and educated unemployment youths.
Khonsa East MLA Wanglam Sawin assured to take steps to bring Tirap and Longding districts under a tourist circuit.
