Our culture is our identity: Pario

PALIN, Apr 16: “Our tradition is our culture and our culture is our identity; therefore we need to preserve our identity,” leader of opposition and Palin-Chambang MLA Takam Pario said in his address at the first-ever Longte festival celebration here in Kra Daadi district on Sunday.
Expressing concern over the rising crime graph in the state, Pario urged the people to fight crimes, and urged the youths to desist from indulging in criminal activities and instead “play a critical role in maintaining peace and tranquility in the state.”
Central Longte Celebration Committee chairman Lokam Kani read out the festival’s mythology. Earlier, Longte used to be celebrated in a few pockets of Kurung Kumey district, but it is now celebrated across the state, he said.
Among others, APEDA Deputy Director Bengia Tadap, Palin Longte Festival Celebration Committee chairman Byabang Gopo, vice chairman Byabang Roshan, and general secretary Heri Sakap addressed the gathering.
The celebration included cultural, sports and literary activities. The dignitaries later distributed the prizes among the winners.
