Sangken celebration ends

ITANAGAR, Apr 16: The celebration of Sangken – the traditional water festival of the Theravada Buddhist community – ended on Monday with the re-installation of the statues of Lord Buddha in the main Buddha Viharas.
After the ceremonial installation of statues of Lord Buddha in the main temples, the venerable ones offered prayers and sprinkled blessed water for the well-being of all.
Sangken is celebrated for three days and is dedicated to the worship of Lord Buddha. People splashing water on one another is the distinguishing feature of this festival, and is done continuously for three days.
