ITANAGAR, Apr 29: Matters related to legal services schemes and activities were discussed during the second annual meet of the Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (APSLSA) here on Sunday.
The programme also saw the participation of 16 judicial officers from various district legal services authorities.
APSLSA member secretary Budi Habung presented a report on the activities and working of the legal services authorities in the state during 2017-18, and National Legal Services Authority member secretary Alok Agarwal spoke about the challenges faced by judicial officers in providing legal services. He exhorted the judicial officers to work for the welfare of the backward sections of the society.
Delhi State Legal Services Authority special secretary Geetanjali Goel advised the judicial officers to utilize their knowledge and experiences for successful implementation of legal services schemes and activities in their respective areas. She also spoke on how to utilize the services of paralegal volunteers and legal aid counsels.
A short film on the evolution of the legal aid movement in India was also screened.
