PALIN, May 22: Governor BD Mishra has urged the people to explore ways to either gift their land or ask for reasonable compensation in order to make it easier to bring development in the state.
The governor, who is on a four-day tour of Kra Daadi and Kurung Kumey districts, said this during a public meeting here on Tuesday.
Describing roads and information technology as the most important aspects of development, he said it is the responsibility of every citizen to facilitate construction of roads.
Citing the example of the inaugural flight of a commercial airliner from Pasighat airport, the governor said the matter of land compensation should not become a hurdle in the developmental process.
“The people must explore ways to gift their land, and, if at all required, the compensation should be reasonable,” he said, and appealed to the people for their cooperation in the matter of land compensation.
Advocating transparency, accountability, continuity, and review-and-audit in the implementation of ongoing developmental schemes, he urged the people to be partners in the developmental process by ensuring that the programmes are implemented “honestly and vigorously.”
Emphasizing that the health and education sectors be given top priority, Mishra requested the people’s representatives in the legislative assembly to contribute in these sectors with MLALAD funds, particularly for medical equipments and washrooms for girls in schools.
He also expressed his concern over the tendency of teachers and doctors to seek soft postings.
The governor urged panchayat members, GBs, elders and others to encourage the youths to join the army, and advised the agrarian community to be progressive and innovative and experiment with new crops, better crops, and cash crops.
Mishra also called for ensuring safety of women and girls. “Every citizen has to shoulder the responsibility of ensuring that there is no misdemeanour against our daughters, sisters, and mothers,” he said.
Local MLA Takam Pario, Tali MLA Markio Tado, Kra Daadi DC Pige Ligu, and ZP Chairperson Rido Meena also spoke. (PRO)
