Speaker calls for holistic development of dist

BOMDILA, May 28: Legislative Assembly Speaker TN Thongdok called for equitable distribution of funds for the development of all the constituencies in West Kameng district.
Attending a meeting of the District Level Committee on State Infrastructure Development Fund (SIDF) here on Monday, Thongdok called for adopting a pragmatic approach while preparing schemes.
Advocating organic farming, he reiterated the need for providing road connectivity to the farming areas to facilitate marketing of agriculture produces in the district.
He also emphasized on coordination between the departmental heads and the legislators for proper implementation of schemes.
Parliamentary Secretary Kumsi Sidisow opined that the schemes to be taken up under the SIDF should primarily be targeted to improve road connectivity and development of the education and health sectors.
Local legislator Japu Deru said the schemes should be people-oriented, and that there should be better team work between the officers and the legislators.
Deputy Commissioner Sonal Swaroop, who chaired the meeting, informed that the meeting of all the MLAs, administrative officers and the HoDs of the district was necessitated to decide and formulate plans and schemes for infrastructure development in the district.
She urged the legislators of the district to prioritize the schemes “on need basis.” She also made it known that no private member scheme would be entertained.
Later, the HoDs and the administrative officers placed their proposals before the committee for consideration. DIPRO
