PAYA, Jun 7: A fortnight-long series of workshops on disaster management in Anjaw district concluded in Paya village in Hayuliang circle on Thursday.
During the fortnight, an NDRF team, with support from the district administration and the police department, conducted workshops in Hawai, Kibithoo, Walong, Hayuliang, Tafraliang, Yatong, Goiliang, Metengliang, Chaglagam and Paya, covering all the eight circles of the district.
NDRF team commander, Inspector Manish Kumar Choudhary expressed satisfaction over the success of the workshops in the remote district. Stating that the district is more prone to landslides and electricity-related disasters, the NDRF team said special focus was accorded to both during the workshops.
Earlier, on Wednesday, the district’s grassroots disaster preparedness was reviewed during a meeting between the NDRF team and officials of the district disaster management authority. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner M Riba. (DIPRO)
