Teachers seek ban on movement of public vehicles through school gate

DAPORIJO, Jun 12: The Upper Subansiri district unit of the Arunachal Teachers’ Association (ATA) has sought the intervention of the education minister in prohibiting the movement of public transport vehicles through the gate of the government higher secondary school here.
In a representation to the minister, the ATA unit said the daily movement of public vehicles through the school gate disturbs the academic atmosphere of the school. It said the existing road passes through the middle of the school campus, making the school and the students vulnerable to the influence of antisocial elements and activities.
Construction of a boundary wall and a gate would be the only remedy for such disturbances, the ATA unit said.
It also demanded that the education minister take steps for establishing a shikshak sadan (transit camp) at the school in order to alleviate teachers’ accommodation issues.
Establishing a transit camp would be beneficial for non-APST teachers who have been transferred here from other districts, it said.
