AALO, Jun 14: Centrally-sponsored schemes under various departments in West Siang district were reviewed during a District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DDCMC) meeting here on Thursday.
Attending the meeting, Tourism Minister Jarkar Gamlin asked the implementing agencies to ensure that the schemes are being implemented as per the guidelines.
“The government’s duty is to place funds, and it is the responsibility of the agencies to see to it that these schemes are launched as per guidelines and DPRs,” the minister said.
Gamlin also appealed to the people to shed aside petty disputes that put the development process on hold.
“The district is facing bad road condition due to delay in the tender process,” the minister said, adding that the government has already given the nod to place Rs 60 crore in two phases for repairing the Pangin-Potin road.
Deputy Speaker Tumke Bagra stressed on utilizing the central pool of resources for people-centric schemes, without any duplicity in works. He asked the executing agencies to make judicious utilization of the budgetary grants for feasible schemes that largely benefit the people.
During the discussion on schemes implementation, Executive Engineer (Electrical) Yater Padu Doji enumerated the problems faced by the department in maintaining electricity supply in the district. She disclosed that the recent power shutdown in three districts was due to a breakdown of the machine at Yeggo for want of maintenance.
“The drawing of power supply from Pasighat and Sirutali micro hydels too cannot be done because of transmission problems, involving fund for replacing all obsolete transmission lines,” she said, and advocated setting up a transmission centre in Aalo for effective monitoring and transmission.
UD Deputy Director Haley Welley spoke about the issues regarding the garbage disposal site in the town.
Officers from other departments, including DRDA PD Jiken Bomjen, highlighted the status of the schemes being implemented by their departments.
