Pasighat Sainik School to commence classes from 27 Aug

ITANAGAR, Jun 18: The Sainik School in East Siang district headquarters Pasighat will commence classes from 27 August.
The prospectus and admission form will be available online, and also at selected centres from 25 June to 10 July. The last date for receipt of applications is 13 July.
The principal of Goalpara Sainik School (Assam), Capt Edwin Jothirajan, called on Governor BD Mishra at Raj Bhavan here on Monday. Capt Jothirajan has been deputed by the defence ministry’s Sainik School Society to conduct the entrance examination to select the first batch of 60 students for the Pasighat Sainik School.
The governor had visited the school site on 11 May this year, and had directed the East Siang deputy commissioner to render all assistance to Capt Jothirajan to start the school on schedule.
Mishra also sought Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein’s assistance in transferring 100 acres of land – the site of the school – from the industries department to the education department at the earliest.
“The DCM will hold a meeting with the stakeholders in the matter on 20 June to get the land transfer,” the governor said.
He also urged Chief Secretary Satya Gopal to pass directions to all the 22 deputy commissioners, including the capital complex DC, to inform all school children through the DDSEs and headmasters and “motivate maximum numbers of students to fill up the form and appear for the first ever entrance examination in Arunachal Pradesh for the Sainik School.” (PRO, Raj Bhavan)
