ITANAGAR, Jun 26: PHE&WS Minister Wangki Lowang emphasized the importance and need of an immediate action plan for the protection of water catchment areas.
Reviewing the physical and financial progress made by his department during 2017-18 in a meeting on Monday, Lowang urged the officials of his department to bring innovative ideas. He also reiterated the importance of holistic service to be provided by the department.
Important issues and policies related to the department were also discussed.
The meeting mainly focused on the issues of catchment area protection, vision for water to all by 2021, sustainability of ODF status and shortage of manpower in the department.
Former PHE&WSD Minister Bamang Felix also attended the meeting and shared his views and experiences during his tenure.
Felix complimented the officers of the department, especially for achieving the open defecation free status in the state well before the targeted year.
He assured the department of his support for future endeavours.
Commissioner of the department, Mamya Ete also participated in the meeting and shared his views on the relevance of team work. He advised the officers to abide by the CCS conduct rule while discharging their duties.
All the CEs and SEs made zonal wise and circle wise PowerPoint presentation on the achievements. The achievements made so far under Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) were highlighted by the mission director.
