HONOKO, Jul 3: Food & Civil Supplies Parliamentary Secretary Tage Taki exhorted the youths to be innovative and not depend only on government resources.
Inaugurating the food festival of the 29th Hong Dree festival celebration at the Dree ground here in Lower Subansiri district on Tuesday, Taki urged the people to “explore the possibility of commercializing food products like maize by innovating varieties of dishes and packaging them well,” saying the state government is actively encouraging entrepreneurs and innovative ideas.
“Food festivals should aim to promote our tribal cuisine rather than being overtly for business purpose. We should open our culinary basics to our guests and people joining the festivities from other districts,” he said.
Deputy Commissioner Chukhu Takar also extended his greetings to the people of Hong on the occasion of Dree.
The inaugural programme was marked by a colourful cultural display and yoga demonstration by students of Kendra Vidyalaya, Dilopolyang.
The secluded Honoko ground, surrounded by pine trees, looked alive and festive with 20 colourful food stalls selling exotic food, local beverages, etc.
Among others, officers, public leaders and former panchayat members participated in the inaugural programme. (DIPRO)
