Mishra urges officers to act proactively in people’s interest

ITANAGAR, Jul 5: Governor BD Mishra on Thursday urged the officers of the state to take suo moto initiatives to address problems and challenges confronting the common citizens.
During a meeting with senior level officers at the Raj Bhavan, Mishra said every paisa spent from the public fund on any programme or project “must bring matching result for the development of the people.”
He also expressed concern over the alleged corrupt practices and absenteeism among government officers.
Developmental programmes and projects, and issues related to roads and air connectivity, law and order, infrastructure, health care, and textbooks distribution were also discussed in the meeting.
The governor also advised the officers to explore institutional mechanisms to expedite the implementation of North Eastern Council (NEC)-sponsored projects in the state.
Chief Secretary Satya Gopal briefed the governor on matters pertaining to the NEC, in view of the council’s upcoming plenary meeting at Shillong, Meghalaya, on 9 and 10 July.
