MIAO, Jul 7: The National Bank for Agriculture & Rural Development (NABARD) organized a ‘Meet with experts’ programme for the farmers’ clubs here in Changlang district recently.
During the programme, NABARD District Development Manager Kamal Roy advised the farmers to work together and apply appropriate technology with the help of the KVK to find solutions to the problems faced by them.
He said the NABARD supports active and vibrant farmers’ clubs for exposure visits, provides training through experts, and encourages progressive farming methods.
Roy advocated scientific cultivation of crops to get higher yields, and provided details on state and centrally-sponsored schemes such as CMKRY, DDUBY, DDUSY, DEDS, NLM, and KCC.
NERCORMP District Project Director N Sukajit explained the prospects of various agri-horti crops grown in the region, emphasizing on value addition of crops for better returns.
Spices Board Senior Field Officer Md Shameer Cheriyath explained the benefits of organic farming, and encouraged farmers to cultivate crops which are driven by market demand. He said the board would provide assistance to the farmers.
The farmers’ clubs are promoted by the Seva Kendra, Miao, and sponsored by the NABARD.
