YUPIA, Jul 9: Papum Pare Deputy Commissioner Dr Joram Beda suggested establishing an “independent custom hiring centre” for the turmeric-growing farmers of the district.
Chairing the District Level Implementation Committee (DLIC) meeting on Mission Organic Value Chain Development (MOVCD) for the year 2017-18 here on Monday, the DC said the custom hiring centre should be easily accessible to the district’s turmeric growers.
He directed the field staff of the agriculture department to make regular field visits and monitor the scheme along with staffers of the service provider of MOVCD, M/s Oppu Engineering and Agro Services, for its successful implementation.
The DC also emphasized on advertising on websites like Indiamart, Flipkart, Amazon, Facebook, etc, to invite buyers from outside the state and for marketing of produces.
Agriculture Development Officer TN Katung highlighted the aims and objectives of the meeting, while officials of Oppu Engineering and Agro Services made a PowerPoint presentation on the status and implementation of the scheme and the cultivation of turmeric crop under the scheme.
The meeting was attended by all the members of the DLIC from the agriculture and allied departments and the service provider. (DIPRO)
