Citizens join govt, private orgs to repair highways

BASAR, Jul 11: The people of Basar assembly constituency carried out series of social service to repair damaged road in the area.
In the first phase, 42-km stretch of dilapidated road from Tai border point in Upper Subansiri district to Bam check post in West Siang district was taken up. Large number of people joined the movement and participated in the social service, being done under the supervision of Parliamentary Secretary for SJETA and Land Management, Gojen Gadi.
Encouraged by the overwhelming support, Gadi launched the second phase of social service to renovate and repair the 24-km stretch of deplorable BRTF road from Basar (Nyigam village) to Ego (Hotel Tumsi).
Over 500 people under Gadi’s supervision joined the mass social service, which began last Sunday last and culminated on Tuesday.
With the initiative of the Basar ADC, agencies like SCIW-Shivam JV, TK Engineering Consortium Pvt Ltd, PWD, police, UD&H, power, PHED, RWD, WRD divisions and sub-divisions provided logistic support and manpower.
The participants also included all former panchayat leaders and gaon burahs of Basar, Dari and Sago circles, members of various student and women organizations, NGOs, welfare societies and government employees.
