ITANAGAR, Jul 16: Governor BD Mishra emphasized the need of making ration items available in border areas by strengthening the public distribution system (PDS).
“Basic requirements like ration items must reach every bona fide denizen, particularly those living in remote and international border areas,” the governor said during a meeting with Food & Civil Supplies Minister Kamlung Mossang at Raj Bhavan here on Monday.
An effective monitoring system can be evolved to ensure availability of essential commodities at reasonable prices, Mishra suggested. He recommended proper monitoring and regular inspection of storehouses, fair price shops, and other outlets to check malpractice and hoarding of essential commodities. (PRO, Raj Bhavan)
