Residents clear jungles interfering with electric poles

YAZALI, Jul 31: With options running out, the people here in Lower Subansiri district took it upon themselves to address the issue of erratic electricity supply that has plagued the administrative subdivision for the past four months.
Electricity to Yazali took a hit in April, when the Yazali-Kimin feeder line was damaged.
Residents on Tuesday came together to clear jungles in the area that were interfering with the electricity poles meant to serve as a temporary measure until full-scale repairs are done.
Earlier, the residents had served a seven-day deadline for installation of a DG set at the CHC, the veterinary aid centre and the government higher secondary school here until the power supply is restored.
Sources said a temporary respite has been provided but the residents have not suspended their 24-hour shutdown threat against the Ranganadi hydropower project and the NEEPCO’s powerhouse.
